S-Type Load Cells take their name from their shape – as you can see from the images below – they are in the shape of the letter “S”.
These load cells are commonly used in tension applications and mechanical-to-electrical scale conversions as well as weighing applications including cranes etc.

S-type load cells are one of the load cell types that we offer; they come from our long standing key suppliers Zemic and Vishay. Because of their shape, they are sometimes referred to as ‘Z-type load cells’, ‘s-beam load cells’ or ‘folded shear beam load cells’.
The S-type load cells that we can offer have a range of different capacities starting from 25kg up to 30 tonnes. They primarily use metal foil strain gauge technology.
