New High Performance Inclinometer Suits Harshest Tilt Measurement Environments

Towcester, UK – December 2014: Variohm EuroSensor has launched a new attractively priced high performance inclinometer aimed at demanding applications in structural monitoring such as wind and solar energy platforms, antenna, tower and vessel construction, and large-scale engineering projects. Available in single or dual-axis versions with CANopen or 4 … 20 mA current-output, the SST20 is offered in a wide choice of measurement ranges from +/-5º to full 0360º. Available in single or dual-axis versions with CANopen or 4 ...20 mA current-output, the SST20 is offered in a wide choice of measurement ranges from +/-5º to full 0360º.

The compact and durable sensor, measuring just 82 x 60 x 22.5 mm (LxWxH) suits horizontal, vertical and headstand mounting and is housed in durable cast aluminium with a full epoxy seal for IP67 protection. Its high resilience to shock and vibration, wide temperature range and submersible capability will meet the most arduous environmental conditions whilst an MTBF of 10 years reinforces long term reliability.

High precision performance for the current output version includes a resolution of 0.005º with repeatability to 0.05º. The CANopen version has an increased performance specification and will be of great benefit for automotive and construction vehicle applications where its industry-standard interface is commonly required for on-board instrumentation. Both versions offer a refresh rate of up to 50 Hz and a response time of 5 ms. Wide power supply requirements (9 to 36 V DC for the CANopen version) will suit unregulated supplies on trucks and road vehicles. Connection to the IS200 is via an M12 – 5 pin socket. The CE approved inclinometer meets EN6100 for EMC and with remote diagnosis without disassembly as well as auto-correct for installation error, set-up and operation is reliably straightforward.

Variohm hold stock of the dual axis current-output versions with sensor ranges of +/-45º and +/- 90º. Application customised versions for OEMs are available including calibration to MIL, EN, DIN, ISO and IEC standards.

Variohm EuroSensor designs, manufactures and sources a comprehensive range of sensor technologies for linear and rotary position, load, force, vibration and temperature - providing complete pre-sale and post-sale application support for demanding measurement applications throughout industry, agriculture, construction, autosports and research.
