Hall Effect Position Sensors

Hall Effect position sensors are part of our product range. The type we can offer is rotary although they can be available as linear sensors also. Hall Effect is a non-contacting technology used to measure displacement using a magnetic field.

We have a range of our own programmable rotary hall effect position sensors as well as offering various types from our trusted suppliers. Our Hall Effect position sensors are aimed at a variety of industries and applications to include automation/mobile vehicle and motorsport to name a few and can be found on our website here.

Our Hall Effect Position Sensors

We have a range of Hall effect position sensors; these are available as our standard range or our newer micro range for applications where space is restricted.

Our own range of Hall Effect position sensors are the Euro-XP series;

Euro – XP

Euro – XPD – D shaft mounting design

Euro – XPK – puck and magnet design

And our micro range, the CMRx series which can be manufactured to have a body diameter of 10mm to 12mm. this is the smallest hall effect rotary sensor currently available on the market. Our standard Euro-XP series are 28mm.

Our micro series includes:

Euro CMRT – threaded design

Euro CMRK – puck and magnet design

Euro CMRS – shafted design

All of our own Hall effect sensors have the following features;

  • Programmable angles from 30° - 360° in 1° increments
  • Redundant output
  • Customisable housings / Shafts
  • IP protection ratings (see data sheets for full details)
  • Long life
  • Extremely robust

Where are Hall Effect Position Sensors used?

Hall Effect position sensors are widely used. They can be highly versatile and as Hall Effect is a non-contacting technology, Hall Effect position sensors have a long life.

Hall Effect position sensors are often used in;

  • Steering and throttle measurements in Motorsport
  • Rudder references on marine vehicles
  • Steering systems on agricultural and machine applications.
  • CCTV camera angles
  • Wind direction measurement
  • Robotic applications
  • Boom & slew angle measurement
  • Joystick and hand controllers
  • Active Aerodynamics

Other Options

Hall Effect position sensors are just one type of non-contacting position sensor. There are alternative sensing technologies which may also suit your application, these may not be available directly from Variohm but are available within the Variohm Group;

  • Positek PIPS
  • RVDTs
  • Eddy Current Sensors

To name a few…

Specifically within our Motorsport range at Variohm we have our;

VTP11 – throttle position sensors

Euro MT – well suited for steering applications
