Sensors for Mobile Vehicle Applications

Sensors are widely used within the mobile vehicle market and being both a manufacturer and supplier of sensors suited to this industry, it is an important part of our business.

The term “Mobile Vehicle” can be used to describe vehicles which are non-automotive and include tractors and other agricultural machinery, mobile cranes, earthmovers, transport buses and other heavy-duty machinery.

The main two types of sensors which are often used within mobile vehicle applications are; Position Sensors and Pressure Sensors.

Type of Sensors for Mobile Vehicle Applications

Within mobile vehicle, we often supply both rotary and linear position sensors as well as pressure transducers.

Position sensors are used within applications such as steering & positioning systems of mobile vehicles. Some of the position sensors we have available for use in mobile vehicle applications are

Heavy Duty Hall Effect Rotary Position Sensors – our hall effect rotary sensors come from our suppliers Contelec and Novotechnik they are highly accurate, durable and offer protection ratings making them well suited to the harsh environments they are often exposed to in mobile vehicle applications.

Cable Extension Transducers – we have a range of cable extension transducers with measurement ranges of up to 45m making them well suited to long-range position measurement in a variety of applications within mobile vehicle for example; telescopic boom extension.

Heavy Duty Linear Position Sensors – our range of linear position sensors are also able to cope within the harsh environments in mobile vehicle applications. The LWX series from Novotechnik is particularly well suited to the applications in this industry. We also offer Positek linear sensors which are a non-contacting option.

Pressure Transducers - are used within the hydraulics of the vehicles. They are used to monitor tyre pressure, fuel pressure, oil pressure and water pressure.

Pressure transducers can monitor the input and output for hydraulic pressures. As they have a wide operating temperature range, they are well suited to applications in this type of environment. Our range also have IP ratings (see individual datasheets for full details)
