Variohm Wins Northamptonshire Business of the Year!

Last night we attended the Northamptonshire Chamber Business Awards and we are so excited and proud to announce that we not only won Export Business of the Year but also went on to win Business of the Year!

It was an incredible night out; the atmosphere at the awards was amazing.

Export Business of the Year

“This award recognises the strength of Britain’s international businesses. Entrants for this award must stand out from the crowd on the International stage and demonstrate that they have generated significant and/or sustained increases in their export and/or import activity.”

Over the years we have grown our export business steadily. In 2017/2018 our export accounted for over 50% of our overall £15m turnover. We have strong team in Germany to support our export customers and a network of distributors who we work with to deliver our first class products and outstanding customer service.

We now have a warehouse in Germany to hold stock for our export customers – this is just part of our plans for Brexit. 

In more recent years we have been designing and manufacturing our own line of sensors which we have been able to distribute world-wide to help grow our business further.

Apprentice of the Year – Jacob Upton

Our Apprentice Jacob Upton was also entered into an award – The Apprentice of the Year;

“This award recognises the rising stars who will become the business leaders of tomorrow. Open to all current or past apprentices aged 16–25 years old who can demonstrate they have made an exceptional contribution to their workplace.”

It was really great that he was recognised as a finalist for this award but unfortunately he didn’t win this category. To get down to the final three is an achievement in itself and we are all proud of him!

Richard Kelley, Jacob’s manager says “I am so proud that Jacob was a finalist for this award – I went with him to the chamber to give his presentation and he was very professional and did a really good job! Well Done Jacob!”

Business of the Year 

The celebrations didn’t stop there; once we had won our category we knew we were in the running for Business of the Year.

To say we were excited is an understatement! It feels amazing to be recognised as Northampton Chamber’s Business of the Year.
