Ben Passes AAT Level 2 Certificate in Accounting

Another of our team has dedicated some time to studying alongside their job here at Variohm.

Ben Moffatt, our Accounts Assistant has recently passed his AAT Level 2 Certificate in Accounting. AAT is the awarding body and stands for Association of Accounting Technicians.

What did the AAT Level 2 Certificate in Accounting Involve?

In order to pass his qualification Ben has been attending evening classes at Milton Keynes College through Kaplan Financial. This is where he learnt the majority of the syllabus, however, extra reading and home study is also advised. Mock exams were available online which Ben found very useful.

The exams were computer based and could be booked at Ben’s convenience when he felt he was prepared for the module. This flexibility means that the qualification could be done in more or less time depending on how busy you are or how fast you learn. It took Ben a year to complete.

How has the AAT Level 2 Certificate in Accounting Helped Ben with his Job Role?

Ben started his qualification a short while after moving to the accounts department at Variohm. Studying alongside performing routine tasks enables our employees to understand the principles and theory behind the job itself, giving them a deeper understanding. We like to give our employees all the tools available to give them the best understanding of the area of the company they are working in.

Ben says “You stop just performing routine tasks because that’s your workload, but understand more about why you do them and how the bigger picture forms.”

 Ben has already started evening classes for the AAT Level 3 and is hoping to also complete level 4. Variohm will support him throughout giving him guidance where needed.
