Programmable Angle Sensors Programmable angle sensors are one of the products we can offer at Variohm, other terms for these sensors are; rotary sensors or rotary encoders. Many of our programmable angle sensors have been designed within our facility, and use Hall Effect technology, this means that their working principle utilises a device (Hall Effect Chip) to measure the direction of the magnetic field. An output is produced when the device senses a radial directional change of this magnetic field, which is then translated into a proportional angular movement. Common output signals that we offer are 0-5V Analog Ratiometric and PWM. Future developments include additional outputs such as 0-10V and 4-20mA. They may be fully customised to suit different applications so please contact us to discuss options. Features of our Programmable Angle Sensors Our programmable angle sensors typically have the following features; Long life Extremely robust Redundant output Customisable housings / Shafts Programmable angles from 30° - 360° IP protection ratings (see data sheets for full details) or applications where space is very limited, we have a new range of micro programmable angle sensors - the CMRx range. Euro CMRT – Shafted sensor with a mounting thread Euro CMRK - two-part puck sensor Euro CMRS - Shafted sensor with a flange mounting Each of these three sensors have programmable angles and can be manufactured to have a body diameter of 10mm and 12mm (dependant on the sensor), which is the smallest currently available on the market for their mounting type. They are based on our well-proven Euro XP range, also featuring programmable angles. Euro - XP - Hall Effect sensor Euro - XPK - 2 part puck sensor Euro - XPD - D shaft Our programmable angle sensors use Hall Effect technology which is non-contacting; this gives our sensors long life with a typical life in excess of 50 million cycles. Why use a Programmable Angle Sensor? Our programmable angle sensors grant the user ability for straight forward customisation to exactly match installation requirements. The angle in our sensors can be programmed from 30° to 360° in 1° increments. This ensures that no measurement is compromised. Typical Applications for Programmable Angle Sensors Angle sensors are often used within the following applications; Wind direction measurement CCTV – measuring the angle of the camera Steering angle measurement Pedal and throttle measurement Rudder reference – for steering marine vehicles Boom & slew angle measurement Joystick and hand controllers Active Aerodynamics To discuss your requirements please contact us - +44(0)1327 351004 or sales@variohm.com Article published on: 11/07/2019 Article last updated on: 11/07/2019
